Our VP of Operations takes on the Becel Ride for Heart

April 18th, 2013

Jay and his bikeThis June, Jay Ryan, Vice President of Operations and partner at Brytor International Moving in Toronto, is cranking up his passion for cycling a notch by taking on the Becel Ride for Heart in Toronto. The event is in its 26th year and this will be Jay’s second time participating. Ironically his first ride was the inaugural event 26 years ago, as a teenager, when he accompanied his two uncles to the finish line.

His goal this year is to raise at least $2,000 that will go to help support life-giving research, social change programs and health information initiatives, and life-extending advancements in heart disease and stroke. Jay has already surpassed the $1,000 mark, with help from Brytor who has agreed to match every dollar he raises.

His motivation for the Becel Ride for Heart comes from his awareness of heart disease and its effects on his own family members; his grandmother who died of heart disease and his father-in-law who has suffered a heart attack.

Jay has chosen to ride the longest route on the ride, at 75 kilometers and his goal is to finish in under two hours, which would be a personal best, he says.  Jay says he normally can ride at 35 kilometers per hour when pushing himself.  He hopes that those who can, will come out and cheer him on, and those that cannot, might consider a small, on line donation to the cause!

Guide to shipping to Australia

May 17th, 2010

Australia is a popular “shipping” destination for Brytor International, and we are one of only a few companies that can offer its own regular “shared load groupage” service for smaller shipments. This means you can send smaller shipments of household effects and only pay for the space required in the container – while still receiving a reasonable transit time between collection and delivery. We can also provide quotations on your shipment loading in its own exclusive container. We can also provide expert advice on what to ship, the packing and unpacking process, transit times, customs regulations and answer your specific questions

All household and personal effects entering Australia are subject to a physical examination by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS). Items of interest to Quarantine include all items that may have come into contact with soil and vegetation such as gardening equipment, bicycles, scooters etc, sporting and camping equipment e.g. golf clubs and buggies, cleaning equipment, brooms, mops, vacuum cleaner waste bags and the like. These items should be thoroughly cleaned before despatch. Please note, however, that prior cleaning and other treatment (fumigation, steam cleaning etc.) does not ensure automatic clearance. AQIS will order further treatment if in their opinion the items being imported present a quarantine risk. Please also be conscious of festive decorations and wreaths containing dried vegetable matter, including pine cones and the like. If imported these items will be subject to further treatment or destruction.

Meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, seeds, herbs and spices (and many other food products containing these) are prohibited items, or have special import conditions. They should NOT be included in personal and household effects shipments.

All alcoholic beverages will be subject to customs duty and GST. Beer, wine, and spirits all attract extremely high levels of duty and GST. By arranging a survey at your home, your Brytor surveyor will be able to advise you on ‘what to ship to Australia’, in addition to advice on electrical items.

Moving step four: Shipping for personal relocation

April 28th, 2010

We pride ourselves in the care we take in packing and shipping your goods. Our membership of OMNI allows us to pass on significant volume discounts while maintaining our superior level of service. Your valued possessions are packed in special air crates, custom-made wood cases or metal steamship containers to ensure each item arrives the way it was packed. Your timing requirements are also very important to us. We will select the most appropriate shipping line or airline for your convenience and most importantly – to have your shipment arrive on time!

Moving step three: Administration for personal relocation

April 21st, 2010

Administrative procedures may be more complex than you might expect. Some people may not even be aware of them, stuff like changing an address temporarily. Our administrators know the complexities of moving, and anticipate them prior to them becoming issues.

The result?

Brytor International manages all the administration needs, freeing up our clients to focus on what’s important to them – their move. We make the move process seamless and easy.
